#reverb10 Prompt, Days 1 and 2: One Word and Writing

I'm joining #reverb10 a day late, but after looking into what it is, I thought it would be a good idea for me to do, especially with all the changes occurring in my life these days.

#reverb10 is about reflecting on 2010 and making choices about what's coming for 2011 in your writing world. What do you want to put out there in 2011? What story do you want to share? Who do you want to be in your creative life?

It's sort of an initiative for writer's New Year's resolutions.

Each day in December, participants are given prompts. Mine are below.

-----
Day One: One Word
Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?
(Author: Gwen Bell)

2010: Changes
I chose "changes" because of everything that has changed in my life in 2010. I started a full time job from home, I got pregnant, and our family moved. This has definitely been a life-changing year for me, and for our family.

2011: Progress
I feel like because of all the changes that have occurred in 2010, much progress will be made in my life in 2011. I know they'll be positive changes, and I'm eager to see what will happen.

Day Two: Writing
What do you do each day that doesn’t contribute to your writing — and can you eliminate it?
(Author: Leo Babauta)

Despite being productive each day, I do find that television is a time-sink for me. There are many times I watch a show or two when I could be writing. I know I can eliminate television from my daily life, and have already started to.

  1. You're the second reverb10 participant I've come across to identify tv as their distraction! I see television as my inspiration. Oftentimes something I watch inspires me to write.

    Great 2011 word!

  2. TV can be inspiring but often I use it when I should be doing something else. Just one of my personal vices.
