I'm Nobody! Who are you? (260)

[NP's NOTE: Dana of En Tequila Es Verdad posted two poems by Emily Dickinson last week. I urge you to read those, as well.]

I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you - Nobody - too?
Then there's a pair of us?
Don't tell! they'd advertise - you know!

How dreary - to be - Somebody!
How public - like a Frog -
To tell one's name - the livelong June -
To an admiring Bog!

About the author:

Emily Dickinson is truly a magnificent poet.  In fact, I wrote a lengthy paper about her in college that I still refer back to when I need information about her.  I really could go on and on about the woman and her poetry, but to spare you, I direct you to her biography here.  There's lots of great information about Dickinson and her poetry all over the web, as well as at your local library.  You may want to do some reading if you want to truly appreciate either this poem, or the two posted by Dana.
