What the hell happened? How did you survive? I freak out when I lose access for ten minutes - just ask the poor, long-suffering tech reps who get a call from me every time there's an outage!

Apparently, my in-laws' modem is an older model, and it died. They got a new one and all is well, but it was incredibly frustrating.
